Stanislav Bojankov

b. 1966, Bulgarian

Biography

Born in 1966 in Bulgaria, Stanislav Bojankov is a contemporary artist best known for his multimedia artworks and installations. Marked by cultural history and individual universal perceptions, Bojankov’s visual language consists of symbols, signs, and codes, exploring the global through a local prism.

The starting point of the artistic concept of Stanislav Bojankov’s practice lies in the horizon of the existence of phenomena creating a continuum, such as thought, time and space. Here, the echo of individual traces of existence is identified with the notion of the roots. Think of prehistory, classical antiquity, orthodoxy, the enigma of voices and incantations, or existentialism.

The ego becomes a particle of matter, which is scattered amongst the romantic autonomy of the fatherland. Doing so, a particular visualization is revealed. A feeling of unity to be more specific, amongst the collective perceptions and their comprehension.

As a result, the main aim of Bojankov is to contribute to these local and global cultural traditions. Simultaneously, the Bulgarian artist creates new expectations within the modern individual’s universal perceptions. They are transformed into widely understood elements, think of signs, symbols, or codes. This genuine path succeeds in exploring the global through the local.
